On Thursday, detectives arrested Alvin Robertson, 55, last known address of Bridgeport, in connection with the bank robbery at the People’s United Bank in Stop & Shop on Sept. 21, said the Watertown Police Department.
He will also be arrested later this week on two warrants from the Monroe Police Department for the Subway robbery on Route 111 in July and the People’s Bank branch located inside Stop & Shop on Route 111 on Aug. 29, said Monroe Police Capt. Keith White.
The two departments worked with the FBI, the Berlin Police Department and the Connecticut Intelligence Center in identifying Robertson as the suspect.
"A great effort and collaboration between departments helped us apprehend the suspect," White said.
Several other departments are also looking at Robertson for similar robberies, police said.
Robertson has been charged with robbery, larceny, threatening, and breach of peace. He is being held on $100,000 bond for the Waterbury arrest. Additional charges will be applied following his arrest by Monroe.
According to arrest records, Robertson has a lengthy criminal history including bank robberies in the 1990’s.
